Walking Your Dog in Rain, Mud & Typical Welsh Weather

If you wait for a dry day in Wales to walk the dog, you'll be waiting a while. The good news is that most dogs couldn't care less about the rain — and with the right kit and a bit of know-how, neither will you. Here's how to make wet, muddy walks work for both of you.

Why Welsh Weather Needs Its Own Advice

We started Pawsome Wales because we genuinely love dogs and wanted to spend our days with them while offering a reliable service to local owners. The idea of building a business that lets us work outdoors with dogs every day, rather than sitting in an office, felt like the perfect fit.

Gear That Makes a Real Difference

From the beginning the goal was simple: create a professional dog walking service that puts the dogs’ wellbeing first. We love our own dogs, and we also love getting to know other people’s dogs — their personalities, quirks and the way they light up when they realise it’s walk time.

Choosing the Right Routes

Rain or shine, we prefer to be outside. Dogs usually feel the same. Exploring local paths, discovering new routes and seeing happy faces every day is a big part of what makes this work so rewarding. On a bright day there is nowhere better to be than out on a walk with a group of dogs.

Drying Off and Aftercare

There is nothing quite like the look on a dog’s face when they are properly exploring — new smells, open space and the freedom to move. Knowing we are giving owners peace of mind while they are at work is equally satisfying. Over time we form real bonds with the dogs in our care and get to watch nervous ones gradually gain confidence.

When to Shorten or Skip a Walk

Meet-and-greets are one of our favourite parts of the job. Getting to know both the dog and the owner, understanding their routines and preferences, builds trust from the start. The best feeling is when a dog recognises us out and about and greets us like an old friend.
