Why We Became Professional Dog Walkers
Why We Became Dog Walkers
We started Pawsome Wales because we genuinely love dogs and wanted to spend our days with them while offering a reliable service to local owners. The idea of building a business that lets us work outdoors with dogs every day, rather than sitting in an office, felt like the perfect fit.
A Genuine Love of Dogs
From the beginning the goal was simple: create a professional dog walking service that puts the dogs’ wellbeing first. We love our own dogs, and we also love getting to know other people’s dogs — their personalities, quirks and the way they light up when they realise it’s walk time.
The Joy of Being Outdoors
Rain or shine, we prefer to be outside. Dogs usually feel the same. Exploring local paths, discovering new routes and seeing happy faces every day is a big part of what makes this work so rewarding. On a bright day there is nowhere better to be than out on a walk with a group of dogs.
The Daily Rewards
There is nothing quite like the look on a dog’s face when they are properly exploring — new smells, open space and the freedom to move. Knowing we are giving owners peace of mind while they are at work is equally satisfying. Over time we form real bonds with the dogs in our care and get to watch nervous ones gradually gain confidence.
Connecting with Owners and Dogs
Meet-and-greets are one of our favourite parts of the job. Getting to know both the dog and the owner, understanding their routines and preferences, builds trust from the start. The best feeling is when a dog recognises us out and about and greets us like an old friend.
What We Have Learned
Working with many different dogs has taught us a great deal about body language, breed tendencies and individual needs. We have learned to adapt walks for energetic dogs, steady older dogs and those who need extra reassurance. Every dog teaches us something new and helps us refine how we work.
Challenges We Face
Welsh weather can be challenging — heavy rain, strong winds or the occasional warm spell. We plan for it with the right kit and sensible route choices. Unexpected situations can arise too, so we stay prepared, keep first-aid knowledge up to date and always put safety first.
Building a Trusted Local Service
A good dog walking business rests on trust, consistency and clear communication. We keep owners updated, stay fully insured, and treat every dog as an individual. Strong relationships with clients and a genuine care for their dogs are what turn a simple walk into a valued service.
Why We Still Love It
The variety keeps the job fresh — different dogs, different routes, different weather. Being outdoors, staying active and knowing we make a positive difference to both dogs and their owners is what makes this the best work we could ask for. At Pawsome Wales we feel lucky to do it every day.
